Our Services
Working for a range of clients including DNOās, Private network owners and Tier 1 and 2 organisations, in diverse areas. From Grid reinforcement through to Solar and Battery storage projects.
DNO and Grid Contracts
We are a successful contractor currently undertaking framework contracts for Scottish and Southern Energy, including asset replacement as well as turnkey projects experience for National Grid Group, UK Power Networks Scottish Power and Scottish and Southern Energy. Our experience extends to design and build at voltages between LV and 132kV for our DNO customers as well as delivering at 400kV infrastructure for National Grid. Our experience across these projects includes the provision of site establishments and haul roads to enable remote access and of course for restoring work areas following completion.
We are pleased to offer temporary works design for our DNO customers, and as you would expect, a compliant workforce holding the required authorisations and served by our wholly owned plant and equipment .

Private Networks
Our private networks experience extends to large and small network owner/operators including Ports, MOD sites, and extensive commercial networks, such as logistics hubs where we have provided our expertise to ensure on time delivery of network extensions and connections. Independent Connection Providers
Durkin and Sons are a registered independent connections provider (ICP), with accreditation up to and including 132kV. We can provide you with a a fixed price quotation for any HV connection at any capacity. We work for consultants, developers and private clients in the industrial, commercial and renewables sectors. Where we provide full turnkey, design, build and adopt proposals.
Meeting your power requirements for your new build or refurbishment project on time and offering fair value and reliable energisation is our aim. We can advise on the best route for the connection and ensure you achieve added value by arranging adoption through a panel of ‘Independent Distribution Network Operators’ (IDNO) or your local ‘Distribution Network Operator’ (DNO). EHV Interlinks and Connections
We class EHV interlinks and connections as infrastructure we construct designed to operate at voltages above 22kV. In the UK this has traditionally meant power construction at 33kV and above. Our experience in this is vast comprising of many projects constructed at all voltage levels between 33kV and 400kV. Additionally we are one of a small number of UK contractors to have successfully completed circuit construction with design voltage of 525kV DC.
Our experience in this area has provided customers such as Balfour Beatty, National Grid, Prysmian Cables, and Scottish Power the confidence to appoint us as their chosen contractor. Renewables
Our experience supporting many facets of renewables projects, means we are uniquely placed to support renewables projects across locations in the UK. We can provide support at many levels, including earthworks and ECP functions. To Solar arrays and Windfarm site establishment and roads and offsite route access haul roads access arrangements. We can provide on site LV, HV and EHV construction, EPC support, circuit installs, jointing and associated fibre works, as well as plinths and terminations at all voltages.

Site Establishment
Site Establishments are a requirement for a significant number of Power Projects. Durkin and Sons can support your requirements with the establishment of hard surface lay down areas, secure compounds, access roads and site levelling. We can of course connect temporary utilities to service site accommodation. At the end of the project we demobilise and return the site to its previous state.
